Product Introduction

The Sawdust Pellet Machine is a purpose-built flat die or ring die pellet mill engineered to compress dry wood dust, shavings, and ground wood chips into dense, uniform biomass fuel pellets. Designed for sawmills, furniture factories, woodworking shops, and farms with access to wood residue, this machine transforms a disposal problem into a profitable heating fuel. Our sawdust pellets achieve a density of 1.2–1.3 g/cm³ and a calorific value of 4,200–4,800 kcal/kg, making them a direct substitute for coal, firewood, and expensive fossil fuels in stoves, boilers, and power plants. With adjustable compression ratios, precise moisture handling, and heavy-duty roller systems, this machine delivers consistent pellet quality batch after batch. Stop paying to dispose of sawdust — turn it into a sellable energy product that pays back your investment within months.

Why Choose Us

  • Turn Waste into Profit: Furniture factories and sawmills typically pay to dispose of wood waste. A sawdust pellet machine eliminates disposal fees and creates a sellable fuel product, generating a new revenue stream from what was previously a cost center.

  • High-Density, Maximum Heat Output: Our machines apply extreme compression through alloy rollers and precision dies, achieving pellet density of 1.2–1.3 g/cm³. High density means more fuel per cubic meter, longer burn time, and lower transportation costs per unit of energy.

  • Superior Ash and Emissions Profile: Pure sawdust pellets contain less than 1.5% ash and emit far less sulfur and smoke than coal or raw wood. They burn cleanly in modern pellet stoves and automated boilers with minimal residue and low maintenance.

  • Compression Ratio Optimized for Wood: Sawdust requires a higher die compression ratio (1:5 to 1:7) than animal feed. Our dies are specifically engineered for wood fiber, ensuring the pellet binds without needing artificial additives — the natural lignin in wood acts as the binder under heat and pressure.

  • Double Roller Grip, No Slippage: Our flat die models feature two large-diameter rollers that maintain positive grip on dry, dusty sawdust, preventing the roller slippage that plagues single-roller machines. Consistent feeding equals consistent pellet quality.

  • Built for Abrasive Wood Processing: 20CrMnTi alloy steel rollers and dies, vacuum heat-treated to HRC58-62, withstand the abrasive nature of wood fiber. ZQ heavy-duty oil-bath gearbox and NSK/SKF bearings ensure 24-hour continuous production.

  • Complete Fuel Independence: Produce your own heating fuel for greenhouses, poultry sheds, workshops, or home heating. One ton of sawdust pellets replaces approximately 3 barrels of heating oil or 1.5 tons of firewood, drastically cutting your energy bills.

Proven Results Backed by Data

Proven Performance — Sawdust Pellet Machine in the Real World
Based on after-sales data and surveys from 120+ sawdust pellet machine users across wood processing industries (2022–2024):

  • Waste Disposal Cost Eliminated: Sawmills report saving $2,000–$8,000 per year in wood waste disposal fees after installing a pellet machine. The waste now generates income instead of costing money.

  • 70–80% Fuel Cost Reduction: Workshops and greenhouses using self-made sawdust pellets for heating reduced their coal or gas bills by 70–80%, with payback on the pellet machine achieved in 4–8 months.

  • Consistent, Saleable Product: Furniture factories selling excess pellets to local households and restaurants earn an average of $150–$250 per ton. A 600 kg/h machine running 8 hours/day produces 4.8 tons daily — a significant secondary revenue stream.

  • Carbon-Neutral Heating: Sawdust pellets are recognized as carbon-neutral fuel under many environmental regulations. Users report lower emissions compliance costs and eligibility for green energy incentives in certain regions.

  • Reliable 24/7 Production: With proper daily greasing, users average 340–350 production days per year even when processing abrasive hardwood sawdust.

Applicable

This machine is the core asset for turning wood residue into a valuable energy commodity. It serves:

  • Sawmills & Timber Yards: Convert mountains of sawdust and offcuts into bagged fuel pellets for local sale.

  • Furniture & Joinery Factories: Eliminate costly dust collection disposal and generate an additional profit center from clean wood shavings and dust.

  • Woodworking Workshops: Heat your own workshop in winter with the very waste your work creates, slashing heating costs to near zero.

  • Farms & Greenhouses: Use agricultural wood waste (orchard prunings, old pallets) to fuel greenhouse heaters and livestock barns.

  • Biomass Fuel Entrepreneurs: Start a local pellet production business with a single machine, supplying households, pizzerias, bakeries, and small industries with eco-friendly fuel.

*Note: For operations producing over 3 tons/hour, we supply complete ring die pellet production lines with dryer, hammer mill, cooler, and automatic bagging. Ask for our biomass line catalog.*

FAQ

What moisture level does sawdust need to be for pelleting? The ideal moisture content is 10–15%. If your sawdust is wetter (e.g., fresh from a sawmill), you need a dryer before pelleting. If it's too dry (below 8%), you may need to add a small amount of water mist. We can supply rotary drum dryers matched to your machine output.
Do I need a hammer mill before the pellet machine? It depends on your sawdust particle size. Fine sawdust from sanding (0–3mm) can go directly into the pellet machine. Coarse shavings, wood chips, or mixed sizes need a hammer mill to achieve a uniform <5mm particle size. We supply matching hammer mills.
Can I use mixed wood species and add other biomass? Yes. The machine handles softwood (pine, spruce), hardwood (oak, beech), and blends with other dry biomass like rice husk, coffee husk, peanut shell, and bagasse. The key is consistent moisture and particle size across the mixture.
Why do sawdust pellets need a higher die compression ratio than feed pellets? Wood fiber has no natural stickiness like starch in grains. It relies on lignin — a natural polymer in wood — which softens under heat and pressure to bind the pellet. A higher compression ratio (1:5 to 1:7) creates the necessary pressure and temperature to activate lignin. Feed pellets typically use 1:3 to 1:5.
What is the difference between 6mm and 8mm pellets for the fuel market? 6mm pellets are the standard for most household pellet stoves in Europe and North America. 8mm pellets are common for larger industrial boilers and some older stove models. We recommend 6mm for resale and 8mm for self-use in larger heating systems. Both dies are available.
How long do the rollers and die last with sawdust? Sawdust is more abrasive than animal feed. Expect 500–800 tons of pellets per die and 400–600 tons per roller set. Our alloy steel (HRC58-62) maximizes life. We stock affordable replacement dies and rollers for quick shipping.
