Product Introduction

Scrap aluminum is valuable — but only if it’s processed into furnace-ready feedstock. Baled UBC cans, bulky profiles, tangled sheet scrap, and mixed castings are difficult to feed, transport, and melt efficiently. High-speed hammer mills can spark fires with aluminum dust, melt the metal onto cutting surfaces, and produce inconsistent particle sizes. Every lost gram of metal is lost revenue.

Our Heavy-Duty Twin-Shaft Aluminum Shredder is engineered to crush this problem. With massive low-speed torque and precision shear blades, it rips apart aluminum bales, extrusions, sheet, castings, and automotive parts without sparking, without melting, and without throwing dust. The result is uniformly shredded, loose aluminum particles ready for magnetic separation, eddy current refinement, or direct furnace charging. Protect your melt shop efficiency and maximize the value of every scrap kilogram.

Product Features

Twin-Shaft, Low-Speed High-Torque Shearing — No Sparks, No Melting Two counter-rotating shafts equipped with thick, through-hardened alloy steel blades run at very low speed (12–25 rpm). The immense torque shears through ductile aluminum without generating the friction heat that causes sparking and metal smearing in high-speed systems. This clean cutting preserves aluminum quality and eliminates fire risk from airborne aluminum dust.
Superior Size Reduction & Furnace-Ready Output Baler aluminum and bulky profiles are reduced to uniform chips in a single pass. The defined particle size (adjustable via screen from 20mm to 80mm) ensures optimal density for furnace charging, reducing melt losses and energy consumption. Consistent sizing also improves downstream magnetic separation efficiency when removing tramp iron.
Anti-Wrap & Anti-Bridging Feed System Ductile aluminum sheet and extrusions can bend and wrap around high-speed rotors. Our hydraulically driven feed ram and anti-wrap rotor geometry force material into the cutting zone at a controlled pace, preventing wrapping and bridging. The PLC automatically adjusts ram pressure to maintain continuous, jam-free throughput on tangled or baled material.
Durable, Re-Sharpenable Blades for Ductile Metals Blades are precision-machined from high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel (D2/SKD-11 equivalent) and through-hardened for impact and abrasion resistance. Their robust cross-section withstands repeated contact with thick castings and extrusions. One set of blades can be re-sharpened 5–7 times, delivering exceptional long-term economics.
PLC Intelligence & Auto-Reverse Protection The integrated PLC continuously monitors shaft torque and motor temperature. When hard contaminants like stainless steel bolts or iron inserts are detected, the rotors instantly auto-reverse to eject the obstruction and resume normal operation. This protects blades from damage and keeps your production line running without manual intervention.

Applicable Material

Aluminum Materials We Shred

  • UBC (Used Beverage Cans): Loose or baled aluminum cans from deposit return systems, curbside collection, and material recovery facilities. Shredded into clean, loose chips for decoating and melting.

  • Aluminum Profiles & Extrusions: Window and door frames, curtain wall sections, structural extrusions, and tubing. High torque shears through thick, elongated shapes without bending or wrapping.

  • Aluminum Sheet Scrap: Production offcuts, stamping skeletons, litho plate, and cladding scrap. Ductile sheet is cut into uniform, flowable pieces ideal for furnace feeding.

  • Aluminum Castings: Engine blocks, transmission cases, wheel rims, pump housings, and small cast components. Brittle cast alloys are fractured and crushed into manageable chunks.

  • Automotive Aluminum: Car body panels, crash beams, suspension components, and heat exchangers (radiators, condensers). Mixed automotive aluminum is processed for metal recovery.

  • Mixed Aluminum & Irony Aluminum: Scrap containing ferrous attachments like bolts, inserts, and steel bushings. Shredded and then separated magnetically downstream for clean aluminum fraction.

FAQ

Will the shredder generate sparks or ignite aluminum dust? No. The extremely low rotor speed (12–25 rpm) produces negligible frictional heat, and the shearing action creates no impact sparks. This makes our shredder inherently safe for aluminum processing, unlike high-speed hammer mills that carry a recognized aluminum dust explosion risk.
Can the machine handle baled aluminum cans directly? Yes. Our larger models (ASH-800 and above) can accept whole UBC bales directly, thanks to the wide chamber opening and powerful hydraulic ram feed. The shredder breaks the bale apart and shears the cans into uniform, furnace-ready chips.
Does ductile aluminum wrap around the rotors? No. Our anti-wrap rotor geometry and precision blade clearance prevent ductile metal from bending and wrapping around shafts. The material is immediately sheared into short lengths, avoiding the build-up that stops standard shredders.
What particle size is ideal for aluminum furnace charging? For optimal melt efficiency, 20–40mm particles are recommended. Our interchangeable sizing screens allow you to select the exact output dimension, and the uniform sizing ensures rapid, consistent melting with minimal dross formation.
How often do blades require re-sharpening when shredding aluminum? Aluminum is relatively soft, so blade wear is moderate. Typical re-sharpening intervals are 800–1,200 working hours for clean aluminum scrap. One set of blades can be re-sharpened 5–7 times, making them highly cost-effective.
Can you supply a complete system from shredder to furnace charging? Yes. We supply complete aluminum recycling lines: shredder → conveyor → magnetic separator → eddy current separator → clean aluminum fraction → furnace charging conveyor. Full engineering, layout design, and commissioning support are included.
