Product Introduction

Waste circuit boards are a treasure chest of gold, silver, copper, and palladium — but only if you can liberate the metals from the resin and fiberglass. Whole boards are impossible to process efficiently. Hammer mills generate dangerous fiberglass dust, overheat, and smear metals across non-conductive surfaces. If your shredding step fails to achieve clean liberation, every downstream separation process suffers — and your precious metals stay locked in the waste stream.

Our Heavy-Duty Twin-Shaft PCB Shredder is purpose-built to crack open circuit boards and reduce them to uniform, metal-rich fragments in a single pass. Low-speed, high-torque shearing fractures the brittle epoxy and fiberglass matrix without creating airborne dust or thermal damage to metal contacts. Solder, copper traces, gold-plated pins, and IC chips are liberated cleanly, preparing perfectly conditioned feedstock for eddy current, electrostatic, or gravity separation. Turn your e-scrap into a profitable metal concentrate.

Product Features

Twin-Shaft, High-Torque Fracturing Two counter-rotating shafts equipped with thick, through-hardened alloy steel blades operate at low speed (12–25 rpm). The immense torque fractures the rigid, brittle PCB substrate rather than grinding it — breaking fiberglass and epoxy cleanly while shearing through copper layers and solder. No friction heat means no melting, no toxic fumes, and no metal oxidation.
Superior Metal Liberation The cutting geometry is designed to delaminate the copper-epoxy-glass composite. Copper traces are peeled from the substrate, solder joints snap at the interface, and IC packages are cracked open to expose gold bonding wires and silicon dies. This high degree of liberation directly improves the recovery rate and purity of your downstream separation equipment.
Abrasion-Resistant, Long-Life Blades Fiberglass is highly abrasive. Our blades are manufactured from high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel (SKD-11/D2 equivalent) with additional surface hardening, designed specifically to withstand the punishing wear of glass-reinforced epoxy. Thick blade profiles permit multiple re-sharpening cycles, and segmented design allows selective replacement of worn edges.
Sealed, Dust-Controlled Operation PCB shredding inevitably generates fine fiberglass particles that are hazardous if inhaled. Our cutting chamber can be fully sealed and connected to an integrated dust extraction system. The low-speed shearing inherently produces fewer airborne fines than high-speed impact mills, creating a cleaner, OSHA-compliant working environment.
PLC Intelligence & Hands-Free Jam Clearance The PLC control system continuously monitors shaft torque and motor temperature. When a hard, uncrushable component (such as a large transformer or steel chassis remnant) is detected, the rotors instantly auto-reverse to eject it, then resume forward rotation. This protects the blades and keeps your line running without operator intervention.

Applicable Material

PCB Materials We Shred

  • Populated Printed Circuit Boards: Boards with components still attached — capacitors, resistors, ICs, connectors, and transformers. Our shredder cracks open board assemblies, liberating components from the substrate in a single step.

  • Bare & Trimmed PCBs: Unpopulated boards, production rejects, edge trims, and copper-clad laminate offcuts. Reduced to uniform fragments for copper recovery via electrostatic or chemical processes.

  • Motherboards & Computer Boards: Desktop and laptop motherboards, server boards, graphics cards, and memory sticks. High gold content in edge connectors and IC pins is liberated for maximum recovery.

  • Mobile Phone & Small Electronics Boards: Smartphone PCBs, tablet boards, and small device circuits. Densely packed with precious metals; uniform shredding is critical for consistent downstream separation.

  • IC Chips & Processors: Ceramic and plastic-packaged integrated circuits, BGA chips, and CPU processors. Cracked open to expose gold bonding wires and silicon for specialized metal extraction.

  • Copper-Clad Laminate (CCL): Production waste from PCB manufacturing, including off-spec sheets and cutting waste. Prepared for copper recovery and fiberglass/resin recycling.

Why Choose Us

  • Factory-Direct PCB Shredding Expertise: You work directly with our engineering team, not through layers of distributors. We design and manufacture rotors, gearboxes, and control systems in-house, delivering machines precisely configured for the unique demands of PCB processing — at a factory-direct price.

FAQ

Can the shredder handle populated boards with heavy components like transformers? Yes. The twin-shaft shearing design accommodates mixed populated boards. Large transformers and heat sinks are sheared or cracked open. For boards with extremely large or hazardous components, we recommend a pre-dismantling step to recover those items separately.
How do you manage the fiberglass dust generated during PCB shredding? The low-speed cutting action inherently produces less airborne dust than high-speed mills. The cutting chamber can be fully sealed and connected to our integrated pulse-jet dust collection system, capturing fine particles before they enter the workplace air.
Will the fiberglass wear out the blades too quickly? PCB processing is abrasive due to glass fiber. We use high-alloy, surface-hardened tool steel specifically selected for this application. Typical blade re-sharpening intervals range from 300–600 operating hours, and one blade set can be re-sharpened 5–7 times with proper maintenance.
What particle size do I need for effective metal separation downstream? For electrostatic separation, a particle size below 5mm is often ideal, which may require a secondary granulator after the primary shredder. Our shredder produces 15–30mm primary chips that are perfectly conditioned for secondary size reduction. We can supply the complete shredder-to-granulator line.
Are precious metals like gold and palladium damaged by the shredding process? No. The low-speed shearing generates no significant heat, so there is no oxidation or thermal degradation of metals. Gold, palladium, and silver remain in their metallic form, fully recoverable by downstream separation processes.
Do you provide complete PCB recycling plants including metal separation? Yes. We design and deliver turn-key PCB recycling systems: primary shredding → secondary granulation → magnetic separation → electrostatic or gravity separation → metal concentrate. We provide all engineering, commissioning, and operator training.
